Menopause Cafe

The Menopause cafe takes place the first Sunday of the month and is a FREE drop-in session hosted by Liana Oldham, with a guest speaker to talk and chat informally about all things Menopause.

June’s Menopause Café is just around the corner and certainly not one to be missed as we have Herbalist Heidi Nisbett as our guest speaker. She is a medical herbalist practising in Billericay, Chelmsford and online. She has degrees in herbal medicine and psychology and is a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. As well as patients with digestive, joint and emotional conditions to name but a few, she sees many perimenopausal and menopausal patients in clinic.

Herbal medicine can be very effective for symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause such as hot flushes/night sweats; anxiety, low mood and brain fog; headaches and migraines; and issues such as heavy periods, thrush, dryness and UTIs. It can be used by those unable or not wanting to take HRT but can also be taken safely alongside HRT and other medications for symptoms that might still be uncontrolled.

The good thing is that Heidi feels we should be celebrating midlife rather than suffering.

You can ask questions, share your own experiences, and feel supported so you can get through this challenging time feeling well. Expect information on food, supplements, lifestyle routines, exercises, HRT and more that may improve your well-being.

You can take away a small booklet published by the UK Charity Menopause Support Group UK founded by the #MakingMenopauseMatter movement. The booklet contains FAQ, a ‘symptom checker’ you can take to your GP and help with consultations, information on HRT, and a list of other sources of information.

Places are limited so we would recommend registering in advance.
