Spreading Kindness
Imagine entering a competition, knowing that the goal is to share a gesture of goodwill and kindness that can make someone's day brighter.
That’s exactly what happened at Quilters school when the pupils entered our afternoon tea competition. They were offered the opportunity to tell us at Human Kind Café about someone special in their lives, someone who had made a positive impact on them. Someone they thought deserved a special thank you of a trip to London for afternoon tea for two.
All of the entries were amazing; it was wonderful to hear about the impact the individuals who were nominated had on the children. The pupils had obviously put a lot of thought and effort into their entries. Thank you so much to everyone who entered. It was incredibly difficult to choose a winner, and we were delighted when Logan’s entry was selected.
Logan nominated his former foster carer, Sheila. Sheila looked after Logan when he was 4 months old after a major head injury that required surgery and left him seriously ill and paralysed down his right side.
He spent 9 months in Sheila’s excellent care where she ensured his physiotherapy was undertaken four times a day and continually believed he would walk again and she was an amazing advocate for him.
Logan left her care at 14 months old to move in with new adoptive parents. When Sheila visited a few weeks into the placement he walked across the room for the first time. There were many tears.
Logan now leads a full and active life and remains close with Sheila and her family and Logan will be forever grateful for her love, care and influence she has had on his life.
We hope Sheila enjoys her well deserved treat.
